When choosing a hotel to stay in as a base to explore the Peak District, I wanted something that would be be central enough, and allow flexibilty of seeing a different city, and not be a horrendous drive away from my current location in the South East of England.
My trip to the Peak District was planned as a mini getaway for the weekend, giving me the chance to catch up with a good friend.
I choose to stay in Derby, as it was only an hour from the little village of Castleton, where we would be exploring during the weekend.
I stumbled across the Pentahotel in Derby at the last minute, and fell in love with it! It was a little bit out of the city, which was great, as city centre hotels often tend to be a little rowdy, and have poor car parking. The Pentahotel group is a relatively new hotel brand, and I was exicted to stay there.
We arrived later in the evening, and got checked in really quickly. The entrance to the hotel looked quite like an old movie house, whilst inside was a picture of moderisation, with a playstation area, iMac computers, a spacious lounge and bar area with a pool table.
There were candles, and fireplaces – such a warm and welcoming place.
Bedrooms
Although I booked a double room – they had ran out, so we put in a twin room, but it was spacious all the same, and the beds were really comfortable!
The room was modern, and incldued all the essentials, like a hairdyer, and toiletities (for girls that is!). There was a flatscreen TV, hgh speed free WiFi, and a fair amount of storage for your belongings!
They also had cute little water bottles, and funky decor!
The bathroom was spacious, with a walk in shower, and plenty of fresh fluffy towels.
Facilities and Services
The hotel offers room service, should you wish to be a little decadent! The staff are friendly and helpful, and can reccomend local attractions. There is a fully licenced bar, and restaurant with yummy looking food.
There is a small gym on site, as well as a sauna, which is a perfect way to relax if you’ve been out hiking in the Peak District. I enjoyed this a lot, and made good use of it, as well as playing a good few games of Pool in the bar area (I got my ass kicked, but hey – its not about winning!)
I had a wondeful stay at Pentahotel Derby, and will definately be looking into staying at one of the other 27 hotels in the group at some stage in our travels.
